In 1999 I went to the USA and did my training for the Equine Sports massage with Debranne Patillo of Equinology. I completed three courses. Equine Sports Massage(an intensive course including an intense anatomy component), Advanced Equine Sports massage and a Biomechanics course. I was in the USA for a period of 5 months. We had to complete an externship of 15 case studies and label a horse with the muscle groups, placed in the direction of fibre on the horse and send the pictures back to Equinology. We also had to label the points of origin in the pictures. The same was completed for the advanced but we also had to paint the muscle groups on the horse. As I can normally only draw stick figures mine was to say the least, interesting! The biomechanics course was condutced by a West Coast Vet in practice and we recieved a letter of recomendation upon completion of this course. I am certified as an Equine Body Worker and I am a member of the International Equine Body Workers Association.

I was an amatuer owner / rider for a number of years and groomed for a friend who competed in Showjumping / Eventing. My own riding was for the most part jumping and in recent years have felt the benefits of the dressage seat. I have lessoned with Ros Tippett / Terrina Fairbrother, Alison Logan / Nola Stein and Kate Pither. Also I have spectated at many lessons for friends who have been to coaches such as Chris Sharpe, Fiona John, Ron Patterson.
